Undertaking a Ph.D. investigating the interaction of the enteric nervous system and the gut microbiota in a number of diseases that exhibit gut dysfunction and dysbiosis. I am using preclinical models of Parkinson's disease, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and preterm infant brain injury to identify changes at the gut-bacteria interface. I am looking at the gastrointestinal tissue morphology and bacterial composition and function across these diseases. I aim to identify any changes that occur as a result of these conditions in an effort to identify meaningful therapeutic targets.
